Default Can we raise/lower terrain?

I asked this to a couple of members in private messages, but I figured I'd repost here for the forum. Is is feasible to raise/lower terrain in Starcraft 2, as we could in Warcraft 3? In WC3, the terrain height was a real-valued function, regardless of which of the 14 cliff levels you were on (I think there were that many). But, when I watch the battle reports from the SC2 alpha, I don't see any rolling hills or slopes--only cliffs and flat patchs of land. It would really be a downer if SC2 could only support integer levels of land, scarcely more than was possible in Starcraft 1--especially for someone like me who likes to create intricate terrain and integrate that into the map.

Could someone with the beta please address this?

Of course.

Blizz just kept it simple in the melee maps since it would interfere with the gameplay.

It's actually even better now that you can "Paint" pathing rather than be forced to use 3000 Pathing blockers a la Wc3.
